Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus Fund

CDBG- CV Background Information

The City of Victoria has been fortunate to receive a special allocation to our Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that will be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus (COVID-19). This allocation was authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), Public Law 116-136, which was signed by President Trump on March 27, 2020, to respond to the growing effects of this historic public health crisis. The CARES Act provided $355,657 in Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funds to the City. Of the original $355,657 allocation, $109,000 remains and, the City is hosting a webinar for those interested in applying for available CDBG-CV funds.

As such, the City is requesting applications from non-profit agencies and other eligible entities for participations in the CDBG-CV program for the period of August 3, 2020 through August 7, 2020. Eligible activities include, but are not limited to, Public Services, Buildings and Improvements (including Public Facilities), and Assistance to Businesses (including Special Economic Development Assistance). Funds may be used for a wide range of activities that must be associated with COVID-19 and all eligible activities must meet one of the three national objectives: benefit low to moderate-income persons; aid in the prevention of slums and blight; or, meet other urgent community needs such as disaster relief.

CDBG-CV Webinar

In order to provide guidance to interested non-profit agencies and other eligible entities, the City will host a Zoom Webinar on CDBG-CV funds. In order to apply for CDBG-CV funds, a representative from the interested organization must attend the Zoom Webinar on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 10:00 AM and complete the CDBG-CV Application, which will be made available after Monday’s Webinar. The link to join the Request for CDBG-CV Funding Webinar can be accessed, below.
